CREATE PARTNERSHIP WHERE IDEAS CAN BE TRANSFORMED INTO TANGIBLE SOLUTIONS - MESTI TO STAKEHOLDERS

 Minister for Environment,  Science, Technology and Innovation and also doubles as Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso has calls for partnerships between universities, research institutions and industry to create an ecosystem where ideas can be transformed into tangible solutions. 


The Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor (OSPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) has Launched the National Innovation Challenge (NIC) that seeks to build a culture of innovation among Ghanaian citizens.


The project is being implemented to inject some energy and ideas of using innovation to create new ideas and ensure that innovations are commercialised. 


Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), Dr Kwaku Afriyie said the challenge the country is facing today from climate change to healthcare and education requires innovative solutions. 


According to him, innovation has always been the cornerstone of progress and it is the duty to foster a culture of innovation that can transform the nation.


It is a Government of Ghana initiative being implemented by the Public Sector Reform Secretariat under the OSPA with support from the World Bank in partial fulfilment of the National Public Sector Reform Strategy (NPSRS, 2018-2023). 



Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo emphasised the government's commitment to supporting and nurturing innovation adding that, the government will invest in research and development, and provide grants and incentives.

He therefore called on the stakeholders to work together to create an innovation-driven nation.
