Mr Ahenkorah who was Mr Kyerematen’s Deputy at the Trade Ministry indicated that anybody who supported President Akufo-Addo to win to become the President but is not doing same for Mr Kyerematen is a hypocrite.
At the time Mr Akufo-Addo was seeking to become president, people who supported him then, indicated that that was his time to be flagbearer of the NPP and subsequently President of Ghana.
Therefore Mr Akufo-Addo was elected as flagbearer of the party ahead of Alan Kyerematen, he stated.
The same principle, Mr Ahenkorah said, should apply to Mr Kyerematen at the moment.
“Is it the case that Honorable Alan Kyerematen is not fit to be a president? Is it the case that Honruable Alan Kyerematen cannot govern Ghana? I don’t think that answer will be a yes.
“Anybody that supported President Akufo-Addo during that time and today, has decided not to abide by the same principle, I will say he is a hypocrite.
“We are in that situation today that calls for people to understand that if we told Alan then that it wasn’t your time, if we all stood behind President Akufo-Addo and today you are coming back to say it is not Alan’s time then I don’t know whose time it is time,” Mr Ahenkorah told journalists on Monday, January 30.
Mr Kyerematen resigned as Trade Minister to enable him to campaign to be elected flagbearer of the NPP for the 2024 elections.
