The father of celebrated Ghanaian rapper Teephlow has passed away.
Muhammed Baidoo, a retired educationist, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, January 22 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana after a short illness.
Teephlow, a Quantity Surveyor-turned-rapper, has made a name for himself in the Ghanaian music industry, with several awards including the VGMA Record of The Year. He has also, in the past, been nominated for several other awards across award schemes in Ghana.
In a post on his Facebook wall this morning, Teephlow wrote, “Death is wicked, Rest well Dada” alongside a picture of his father.
The news of Muhammed Baidoo’s passing has sent shockwaves through his fans and the Ghanaian entertainment industry in general, who have expressed their condolences and support for Teephlow and his family during this difficult time.
Efforts to reach out to Teephlow have been futile, however, his manager, Ibrahim Baidoo, who is also his brother, shared some details on this devastating event.
He expressed that even though their father had been ill for a while now, they least expected this to happen.
“However, as Muslims, it is enjoined upon us to be grateful and thankful in situations like this.”
Ibrahim Baidoo also thanked the fans of the rapper for pouring out to wish him and the family well in this low moment.
He said that their father was a great man who served humanity through education as a teacher and religion as an Imam and a proud father who always supported Teephlow’s music career.
Teephlow is currently domiciled in the United States with his mum and other family members.
